Step Up For Local

Stepping up for local is a mindset.

Supporting local businesses means supporting our neighbours and our neighbourhoods. It’s about celebrating the good in our communities and the humanity behind our local economy.

Connect with us on social media as you Step Up For Local:

Why Step Up for Local?

The Chamber is encouraging everyone in our community to ‘Step Up For Local’ and to feel encouraged and empowered to step up for our local community by shopping local and support businesses, especially due to the negative effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had our economy.

Get Involved!

The Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce has launched this campaign to encourage you to Step Up For Local.

While we will be announcing and hosting several initiatives over the coming months, we are encouraging you to get involved right away!

Whether you are a business or community member, here are a couple of ways you can get involved right away.

If you’re a business:

We are painting the town yellow by putting decals in the windows of businesses that are interested in supporting this initiative.

If you are a local business owner in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, you can request a decal below:

If you’re a community member:

Make a conscious decision to spend locally. When we step up for local with our hearts, our words, and our wallets, we all win. We need to turn our attention to the backbone of the Canadian economy – small businesses. Would you believe that almost 100% of our members are small businesses?

Whether you are shopping, eating, giving, or celebrating, think local first.

Where to start? These businesses are demonstrating their shop-local-pride by displaying the Step Up For Local logo. Look for it on windows and doorways at your favourite spots in the CBRM!
